Welcome to MyGeekTails Maine Coon Cattery

At MyGeekTails, we are proud breeders of exceptional European Maine Coon cats. Our passion lies in preserving the integrity and beauty of this magnificent breed while raising healthy, affectionate kittens that thrive in their new homes. Below, we share our philosophy, explain the difference between European and American Maine Coons, and guide you through the process of reserving one of our kittens.

Our Breeding Philosophy

At MyGeekTails, our breeding philosophy is rooted in three core values: health, temperament, and authenticity.

  • Health First: Every cat in our breeding program undergoes rigorous health screenings, including genetic testing for common feline diseases (HCM, SMA, PKDef). We work closely with veterinarians to ensure all kittens receive the best possible start in life, including proper vaccinations, deworming, and a nutritious diet.

  • Temperament Matters: Maine Coons are known as the “gentle giants” of the cat world, and we strive to nurture that affectionate, playful personality from day one. Our kittens are raised in our home—not cages—where they are exposed to people, other pets, and everyday household activities.

  • Preserving the European Lineage: We focus on true European Maine Coon bloodlines, known for their wild, majestic look—think strong muzzles, high cheekbones, tall ears with lynx tips, and robust bodies. This sets us apart from many catteries who breed American lines, which tend to have softer features and a more domestic appearance.

European vs. American Maine Coons

Though both types fall under the same breed standard, there are key differences between European and American Maine Coons:

  • Appearance:

    • European: More wild-looking features, longer and more defined muzzles, bushier tails, higher ear placement with prominent lynx tips, and a muscular build.

    • American: Softer, more rounded features, shorter muzzles, and a more domesticated appearance overall.

  • Temperament: Both types share the Maine Coon’s classic playful, loyal, and intelligent nature. However, breeders of European lines often place a strong emphasis on both personality and striking appearance.

  • Rarity: European Maine Coons are harder to find in the U.S., and we are proud to offer this exclusive lineage to families looking for something truly special.

How to Reserve a Kitten

Reserving a MyGeekTails Maine Coon kitten is an exciting journey! Here’s how it works:

  1. Initial Inquiry: Reach out to us via our website or social media to express interest and ask any questions. We’ll provide information on current or upcoming litters.

  2. Application: If you’re serious about adoption, we’ll ask you to fill out a short application to ensure a good fit between kitten and family.

  3. Deposit: Approved applicants can place a non-refundable deposit to reserve their kitten. This guarantees your spot in the selection process.

  4. Selection & Updates: Around 6-8 weeks of age, kittens are evaluated for temperament and conformation. We will help match you with the perfect kitten and provide regular photo/video updates.

  5. Go-Home Day: Kittens go to their new homes at 12-14 weeks of age, fully vaccinated, dewormed, litter trained, and with a health guarantee.

  6. Lifetime Support: Adoption is just the beginning—we’re here to support you throughout your Maine Coon’s life with tips, guidance, and care advice.
